Specialist lubricants for the safe and efficient operation of compressor installations.
In Castrol we have full range of high-quality compressor oils – for air compressors and cooling compressors as well.
Castrol Aircol™ PD oils are a range of compressor lubricants, based upon highly refined mineral oils, which are intended for the lubrication of both reciprocating and rotary air compressors.
Aircol PD grades are ashless oils recommended for the lubrication of rotors, bearings and gears in rotary compressors, especially the oil flooded screw type with lubricant drain cycles of up to 2000 hours under normal use.
The Castrol AircolTM MR compressor oil range of premium lubricants are formulated from highly refined mineral oils and novel additive technology to give outstanding antiwear and antirust performance to meet the requirements of Atlas Copco and similar types of compressor design.
Aircol MR incorporates a carefully balanced antioxidant system providing improved oxidative and thermal stability giving “extended” service life for both oil flooded and oil injected rotary screw compressors operating continuously at air discharge temperatures up to 90ºC. The product has been designed to meet service drain intervals of 4000 hours.
The Castrol Aircol™ SR compressor oil range of premium lubricants are designed for use in rotary screw compressors and are based on polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids.
Aircol SR is suitable for use in oil flooded rotary screw compressors operating under extreme climatic conditions, harsh environments and severe operating conditions where very high air discharge temperatures (> 100°C) are experienced. These oils are also suitable for use in compressor units operating at normal operating conditions, with the maximum air discharge temperature =/< 100°C, as defined by ISO 6743-3:2003. For normal operating conditions, these products can be used for extended drain intervals up to 8000 hours.
The Castrol Aircol™ LPT Range (previously called Energol™ LPT) are refrigeration compressor lubricants formulated from highly refined naphthenic base oils for use in both large and industrial and small domestic refrigeration units.
The Aircol LPT range is formulated to function as lubricants and coolants, as well as sealants in refrigerating compressors. They maintain good lubrication properties at the high temperatures reached during the compression phase and good fluidity at the low temperatures within the evaporators. Excellent lubrication of the moving parts in the compressor as well as recycling of the oil, entrained into the system by the refrigerant, are therefore ensured. The chemical stability of the Aircol LPT oils prevents them from reacting with the refrigerants used in refrigeration systems to form potentially disruptive breakdown products. All Aircol LPT grades are suitable for use in systems using Ammonia (NH3) or halogenated hydrocarbons. They can also be used where good low temperature flow properties are required in the lubrican
The Castrol Aircol 228 range of refrigeration oils are formulated from selected alkyl-benzene base stocks.
Suitable for use in R22 refrigeration systems with very low evaporator temperatures where Alkyl-benzene based lubricants are recommended by the manufacturer. These products may not be suitable for use in refrigeration systems employing screw compressors due to the high level of solubility of refrigerant in the lubricant, which may reduce its viscosity to unacceptable levels. However this is largely dependent on operating conditions. Castrol Aircol 2284 can also be used in ammonia refrigeration compressors where an ISO VG 68 Alkyl-benzene based lubricant is recommended.
The Castrol Aircol 229 range of synthetic refrigeration oils are formulated from selected polyalphaolefin base fluids.
The Aircol 229 range are specifically designed for use in refrigeration systems using screw type compressors combined with very low evaporator temperatures. They may also be specified for certain systems using reciprocating compressors with high compression ratios and discharge temperatures. The very low pour points enable the Aircol 229 range to be used in systems where evaporator temperatures are extremely low. However because of their low miscibility with R22 the Aircol 229 range are not suitable for use in refrigeration systems using flooded evaporators, unless efficient oil separators or some other method of oil recovery is provided.
